Course description

Kansans Can Competency Framework

Course Description: This facilitator-led course, which runs from September 19 - October 28, is designed for teachers to better understand instructional activities to teach self-regulation, either in core content or other applicable areas. Through this interactive course, educators gain knowledge and resources to apply self-regulation practices in the elementary school setting. Each week, instructional activities will be reviewed and then discussed with colleagues, with facilitation from a Recognized Trainer. Course activities are asynchronous and can be done anywhere at any time of day.

Materials that will be provided for this course include lessons designed for PreK–2nd grades and lessons designed for 3rd–5th/6th grades.

Course completers will earn 18 CEUs with an option to receive one graduate credit hour from Baker University (additional $80 payment is required; details provided during the course).

NOTE: Please ignore the date/time information provided through the TASN website. Limitations of the registration system require this information, but Week 1 activities can be completed anytime during the week of September 19. This course is asyncronous, so you can engage whenever it fits within your schedule each week. Information on accessing the course materials will be provided via email a week prior to the start date.

At the end of the course, educators will be able to:

  1. Describe the key components of self-regulation.
  2. Assess student self-regulation knowledge and skill using curriculum-reference and performance-based assessment techniques.
