Course description

Kansans Can Competency Framework

Join us to empower students to manage their emotions, ask for help when they need it, and show respect while speaking up. Teaching assertiveness increases students’ achievement, self-image, and emotional regulation while reducing bullying (see the Assertiveness Infographic).

This free, 1-hour, virtual workshop is designed for teachers and counselors of students in Grades 7–12. Explore resources that are free to all Kansas educators, including instructional activities, performance-based observations, and strategies that guide students to be assertive. Due to confidentiality, no recordings will be provided after this real-time, virtual event.

Materials that will be provided include lessons: Heger, E., Noonan, P. M., & Gaumer Erickson, A. S. (2024). Assertiveness lessons [Secondary] [Teacher lessons and student workbook]. College & Career Competency Framework.
