Course description
Join us to empower students to manage their emotions, ask for help when they need it, and show respect while speaking up. Teaching assertiveness increases students’ achievement, self-image, and emotional regulation while reducing bullying (see the Assertiveness Infographic).
This free, 2-hour, virtual workshop is designed for teachers and counselors of students in Grades 7–12. Explore resources that are free to all Kansas educators, including instructional activities, performance-based observations, and strategies that guide students to be assertive.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Explore instructional activities that teach students to manage their emotions, ask for help, show respect, and share their thoughts and feelings.
- Reflect on their students’ needs using performance-based data.
- Plan opportunities to teach assertiveness in their classrooms/roles.
Refund Policy
Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
