Course description

In collaboration with the Kansas State Department of Education and Keystone Learning Services, this three session virtual training series is designed for upper elementary through high school teachers to better understand instructional activities to teach self-efficacy, either in core content or other applicable areas such as counseling, special education, or CTE. Through this highly interactive virtual training series, educators will be provided the knowledge and resources to provide self-efficacy instructional activities and practices for any content area. In each session, instructional activities will be reviewed and then discussed with colleagues, with facilitation from a Recognized Trainer. You will leave each session with a plan for instruction.

This training will support educators to embed self-efficacy instruction and practice. Participants will build students’ self-efficacy (individuals’ perceptions about their capability to perform at an expected level, achieve goals, and complete moderately challenging tasks); student outcomes include increased willingness to learn challenging content, persistence in the face of setbacks, and self-awareness of their effort, learning, and progress.

Dates for the three sessions are listed below, with optional coaching in between Sessions 1 and 2. All three sessions must be attended.

  • Session 1: Nov. 17 8:30-11:30am

  • Session 2: Feb. 9th 8:30-11:30am

  • Session 3: Mar. 30th 8:30-11:30am

Each participant will receive 35 CEUs for completion of the series, and 1-graduate credit is optional for a fee ($80 through Baker). This series is appropriate for any educator grades 6-12. Join us as a team or an individual teacher to support your students' social-emotional learning.
