High-Leverage Practices are 22 essential special education techniques that all teachers of students with disabilities should master for use across a variety of classroom contexts (Council for Exceptional Children and CEEDAR). During this archived webinar, Laura Clarke focuses on using Explicit Instruction with students who have complex learning needs. Explicit instruction is a research-based strategy that is systematic, direct, engaging, and success-oriented—and has been shown to promote achievement for ALL students in any grade level or content area, including foundational academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills and activities of daily living.

In this presentation, Laura explores the learning needs of students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and other complex disabilities and how they can be supported using the 16 principles of Explicit Instruction (Archer & Hughes, 2011). This webinar will includes lots of examples, sample lesson plan templates, and other great resources.
