IEP Basics for the LEA Representative

This module is designed for building administrators who wish to learn more about the IEP content and process. You may wish to review this information if your district or special education cooperative will participate in a compliance review during the coming year.  Before beginning this training, you will need to locate the handout for this module.  You will also need to use an IEP from your building for reviewing the components of the IEP.

This is one part of a two-part training for those administrators who serve as the LEA Representative on IEP teams.  The other part is titled “Responsibilities of the LEA Representative in the IEP Process” and is focused on those responsibilities and practical suggestions for carrying out those responsibilities. You can determine the order for using both parts of the training, or choose to use only one, based on the needs of your building administrators and the amount of professional development time available.
