TASN-ATBS Webinar: Making Use of the Communication Matrix & Online Community of Practice

Webinar Description

The Communication Matrix is a research-based assessment tool to assist in measuring the expressive communication skills of individuals whose skills range from 0 to 24 months in expressive communication behaviors. The Matrix takes into consideration all forms and modalities of expressive communication including sounds, movement, gestures, signs, objects, symbols, and text usage. Used by SLPs, Teachers, Family Members, and a wide variety of support staff, this presentation will introduce you to the assessment and the online support developed within the Community of Practice to assist you once you have completed the Matrix.

Anyone can create a free logon to the Communication Matrix website. Go to www.communicationmatrix.org to create an account. The Matrix is free for the first 5 assessments.

Once a Communication Matrix Assessment is completed, the team at Design to Learn (www.designtolearn.com) has developed implementation supports such as a Guide for Developing IEP Goals and Objectives that relate to the skills that are shown to be emerging and yet to be developed. This session will also introduce you to the Communication Matrix Custom Report. Examples will be shown so that you will see what the Custom Report entails; there is a minimal charge for developing a Customized Report. During the session, we will also review the built-in support through the Online Community of Practice where you can ask and answer questions about implementing the data from your child/student’s Matrix results.
