Systematic strategies and instructional teaching routines designed to enhance the delivery of Core reading instruction in a multi-tiered system of Tier 1 and Tier 2 support will be described. These instructional routines for kindergarten, first and second grade are directly relevant to practitioners implementing multi-tiered systems and response to intervention models. By the end of this session, participants will understand (a) how aligning Tier 1 and Tier 2 reading instruction can lead to higher student reading outcomes, and (b) how using instructional routines can enhance current Core reading instruction.
