Tri-State Webinar: ASD & Mental Health: Putting the Cart Before the Horse: Autism Treatment: Part 2 of 2

Description:

This two-part series presented by, Robert Cox, MA, PLPC, NCC, will discuss issues surrounding autism and mental health. In  Part 2: Putting the Cart Before the Horse: Autism Treatment: Robert will share his more than 20 years of experience working with individuals and families with autism. Robert has found that we can improve treatment by providing for the sensory needs, assisting with emotional regulation and then teaching behavioral and social skills as needed.  Individuals with intense sensory issues often do not feel safe in their own world. They may feel as though they are constantly under attack by the environment around them. New research in mindfulness practice and neurochemistry indicates that teaching self-regulation with mindfulness after supporting sensory needs can be beneficial.
