Participants will explore “embodied awareness” and the power of focus. We will discuss brain
areas activated by these skills and strategies to pause when thoughts and emotions feel
overwhelming. Together, we will examine triggers, survival states, and neuroception while
practicing awareness, internal boundaries, revisioning, and persistence.
Awareness of how we feel in a relationship or environment is important but pairing that
awareness with an action plan aligned with our desires and needs allows us to shift from states of
protection into states of resilience and growth.
Questions are powerful motivators for curiosity. They help us visualize patterns of thoughts and
feelings shaped by our environments and experiences. The questions in the handout can be engaged
individually or through group reflection, discussion, and journaling.
