2016 KSDE Impact Institutes

With the input of more than 2,000 Kansans, the Kansas State Board of Education has set a new vision for Kansas education where “Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.” Kansans are demanding higher standards in academic skills, as well as employability and citizenship skills, and the need to move away from a “one-size-fits-all” system that relies exclusively on state assessments from the “No Child Left Behind” era. This new vision for education calls for a more student-focused system that provides support and resources for individual success and will require everyone to work together to make it a reality. That work begins now! Please join us at the Kansas State Department of Education Division of Learning Services 2016 Impact Institutes and explore this new vision for Kansas education and how your work directly impacts that vision. Kansas teachers, counselors, principals, curriculum coordinators, instructional coaches, and educational professionals at all levels (birth through high school) will have the opportunity to select sessions and workshops on topics connected to many academic areas. These workshops will provide the help you need in providing our students the academic and cognitive preparation, the technical and employability skills, and the civic engagement opportunities to allow them to be successful. By the end of each Institute, participants will return to their buildings with collaboratively developed ideas for teaching diverse learners and a renewed passion for teaching the youth of Kansas. **Cost: $25 per person** Costs include the professional learning, continental breakfast, lunch and snacks each day.
