Professional Development Description:
This one-day training with follow-up is designed for teachers who aspire to incorporate interpersonal competency development (i.e., conflict management) within daily instruction, either in core content or other applicable areas. Through this experience, educators will be provided the knowledge, resources, and experience necessary to learn and apply conflict management development practices to teaching in any content area.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the session, educators will be able to:
• outline and differentiate between the three main components of conflict management;
• describe the Kansans Can Competency Framework to a colleague;
• develop an instructional plan to teach conflict management, relating the content to class content;
• select effective methods to monitor student learning and practice of conflict management.
Then 6 weeks later, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a virtual 1-hour follow-up to assess the quality of conflict management instruction and student impact.
