According to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (2004), interpreters supporting Deaf students are Related Service Providers, in the same category as audiologists and speech professionals (IDEA, Section 300.34). And while it's now more widely understood that educational interpreters are professional providers, what does that really mean? Using a co-creation framework, the presenter will guide participants through activities to untangle our responsibilities as Related Service Providers. How do we document students’ use of services and participate in IEP meetings? This session will allow us to collaboratively share our expertise so we can be more proactive IEP team members.
RID CEUs: .04 RID PS CEUs/workshop. There is a $15.00 fee for RID CEUs per workshop, payable when completing the post workshop survey.
Certificate and CEU Information: A Certificate of Completion (4 contact hours) and/or RID CEUs (.04 CEUs) will be awarded, if requested, to participants who complete the following requirements:
1. View/participate in the full 4 hours of the live workshop.
2. Submit a post-workshop survey within 72 hours of the live event.
3. *Correctly record and submit the 2 validation codes that are provided during the workshop. These validation codes verify attendance throughout the entire workshop. Validation codes are submitted on the post-workshop survey.
*The validation codes are designed to meet RID’s requirement to “…verify participant attendance and completion of all course materials and requirements. Boystown will send these out after the workshop.
Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
