Deaf interpreters work in collaboration with hearing interpreters to navigate the unique intricacies of language and cultural mediation by expanding their role-space and decision latitude to ensure that linguistic equity is achieved. DI's work with a wide variety of students and are often overlooked as a resource in K-12 settings. With the demands that exist in the educational setting, this presentation examines research on the roles, responsibilities, and benefits of Deaf Interpreter- Hearing Interpreter (DI-HI) teams, research as to why this occurs and some strategies for approaching such resistance
