Course description

The goal of the High Quality Instruction within Inclusive Learning Environments project is to increase access to general education curriculum for all learners through the collaborative integration of technology in inclusive environments by providing structured, ongoing professional learning and development systems. This combined interactive training/meeting aims to increase capacity through supporting connections across Assistive Technology, Universal Design for Learning, and Co-Teaching project strands. In the morning, we will spend our time learning and networking together to further the mission. The afternoon will be reserved for indepth learning in specific strand areas.

10am - 12pm - Combined Strand Networking and Project Activities

12pm - 1pm - Lunch Provided

1pm - 3pm - Deep Dive into the Kansas Assistive Technology Guidance

Kansas Assistive Technology Guidance was created in response to a need expressed by many of Kansas’ school administrators and educators for high quality examples of the processes that individual school districts and IEP teams can use to provide legal, effective and ethical assistive technology (AT) services. The guide is envisioned as a starting point for the development of a specific agency’s AT services. Any part of these guidelines may be copied or revised for use by an individual program or agency.

Assistive technology leaders will

  • review sections of the Kansas Assistive Technology Guidance
  • analyze key procedures for IEP teams to include when considering assistive technology for students
  • design an action plan integrating targeted procedure from Kansas Assistive Technology Guidance
