DESCRIPTION

Explore how to translate trauma-informed principles into practical, everyday strategies. This workshop focuses on real-world application, equipping participants with tools to recognize trauma responses, create supportive environments, and respond with empathy and effectiveness across professional settings. 

PRE-REQUISITES

Participants need NO prior learning or specific degree to attend and benefit from this workshop. Participants will need a desire to learn about how to use a trauma-responsive approach to increase achievement and enhance resilience of the children/youth they support. 

DAILY GENERAL AGENDA

  • 11:30 1 hour Lunch on your own
  • 12:30 Choice Sessions
  • 3:30 End

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Please indicate in "Accommodations" if you will need a lactation room.
  • TASN SMHI may take photographs, videos, and recordings of activities and participants during training, meetings, and conferences. These items will be used to positively recognize the work of participants and promote learning. They may be shared via social media pages, the TASN SMHI webpage, conference materials, and TASN SMHI promotional materials. The utilization of photographs, videos, or recordings taken by TASN SMHI will abide by all state and federal laws regarding confidentiality and will not be used for any commercial value or monetary gain. By receipt of this email or registering to attend an event, participants agree to have photographs, videos, or recordings utilized, without remuneration, unless this permission is revoked in writing to the TASN SMHI.
  • Continuing Education: TASN SMHI is an approved provider for the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (#18-011). Following the onsite training, those licensed through BSRB may receive 5.5 continuing education credits and educators may receive 5.5 professional development points. All other professionals may receive certificates of attendance, available to download upon completion of a brief evaluation.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the key differences in a traditional approach and trauma-responsive approach to supporting children/youth.
  • Evaluate practices and environments for their effectiveness in promoting psychological safety and trauma responsiveness.
  • Synthesize trauma-informed principles with existing professional practices to develop integrated, trauma-responsive approaches.

Refund Policy

Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
