Course description

This is a wonderful learning opportunity for anyone that works with children birth to age 5.

On the agenda:

  • An update on early childhood in Kansas from KSDE Director of Early Childhood, Amanda Petersen.
  • Promoting Communication Tools for Advancing Language in Young Children (PC TALK) - Dale Walker & Kathy Bigelow from KU Juniper Gardens Children's Project
  • Behaviors are Just the Tip of the Iceberg - Ingrid Pohl, KCCTO

Learning Objectives

  • understand how daily routines and naturalistic communication strategies increase language learning
  • learn how to access and use the PC TALK communication tools
  • learn how individual differences, sensory processing, body needs, feelings, and emotions impact behavior
  • learn to investigate what a child's behavior is communicating
