Children’s challenging behavior is a primary concern for many teachers of young children. These behaviors are disruptive and harmful, and they often interfere with children’s learning and engagement. Even the most experienced teacher can struggle with supporting children when they engage in these behaviors. In this session, we will take a deep dive into understanding challenging behavior, reflecting on why a child is engaging in these behaviors, and identifying strategies for supporting children in collaboration with their families. We will consider the impact of trauma on children and the importance of relationships in both preventing and addressing challenging behavior.
