The Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) and the Child Outcome Summary (COS) process were developed to capture the impact of early childhood special education services on young children with disabilities. Throughout the year, dedicated early childhood teams diligently document and submit COS rating information to the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) via the Outcomes Web-Based System (OWS). The linchpin for deriving meaningful insights from this data lies in its quality, underscoring the importance of maintaining high standards in data reporting.
This session is designed to equip early childhood special education teams in understanding the requirements of Indicator 7 reporting, provide guidance and tools that can be used by local programs to ensure high-quality early childhood outcome data reporting, and help teams understand how they can use indicator 7 data for ongoing program improvement. Programs are encouraged to send small teams (2-4 people) of district trainers, who will be provided tools and resources they can use to train staff in their district.
