Course description

Join Us for An Update on the High Quality Instruction within Inclusive Learning Environments Project (HQIILE)

Our goal is to increase access to the general education curriculum for all learners through the collaborative integration of technology in inclusive environments by providing structured, ongoing professional learning and development systems. This combined interactive training/meeting aims to increase capacity through supporting connections across Assistive Technology, Universal Design for Learning, and Co-Teaching project strands. In the morning, we will spend our time learning and networking together to further the mission. The afternoon will be reserved for in-depth learning in specific strand areas. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Details

  • 10am - 12pm - Unpacking Inclusive Practices
  • 12pm - 1pm - Lunch Break
  • 1pm - 3pm - A Deep Dive Into Project Strands
    • Assistive Technology - This breakout session will review current AT opportunities for the 2024-2025 school year, including an overview of the Sustainable Assistive Technology Services (SATS) opportunity, AT coffee breaks, AAChats, and national speakers coming to Kansas. The Roadmap to Effective AT Services Online Series and recent additions to myinfinitec.org for coalition members will also be highlighted. Because we always need more time to share tech ideas, this session will be sure to reserve some open time to share tools, tips, troubleshooting, and talk about hot AT topics.
      • Learning Objective 1: Review Assistive Technology training opportunities from TASN.
      • Learning Objective 2: Explore new courses and webinars on myinfinitec.org.
      • Learning Objective 3: Discuss hot topics and recently developed resources for AT.
    • Co-Teaching/Coaches - During the Co-Teaching and Coaches breakout session, we will continue our collaborative development of the Coach's Playbook. The session is a working session to review and expand the Playbook. The Playbook explains each element on the observation form, provides implementation strategies, and has relevant links to resources and research. This session will also test the new Online Observation data input tool.
      • Learning Objective 1: Review sections and add examples to the Coaches Playbook.
      • Learning Objective 2: Test the Online Observation data input tool.
      • Learning Objective 3: Plan for ongoing Playbook needs and iterations.
    • Universal Design for Learning - The UDL session will be an engaging journey to dive deeper into UDL. We will review the newly released UDL Guidelines 3.0 and kick off the UDL Book study. The book Engage the Brain by Allison Posey explores the relationship between emotions and learning and gives real-world examples and practical advice that can be applied in all classrooms and all content areas.
      • Learning Objective 1: Analyze UDL Guidelines 3.0 recently released by CAST
      • Learning Objective 2: Discuss the process and new format for the fall UDL Book Study.  As a bonus, attendees will receive a copy of the book.
      • Learning Objective 3: Share and reflect on current UDL practices, success stories, challenges, and lessons learned. Plan for ongoing Playbook needs and iterations.

Approved for 4.0 hours of continuing education clock hours for Kansas-licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
