Session Information
Title: Realizing the Rigor: Designing for Impact on Learners’ Access and Success in Secondary General Education Classrooms
Description: In their first year of implementing co-teaching, this Kansas high school team has seen the positive impact of including students with disabilities in the general education setting. They’ve learned it’s more than having the students in the setting; it’s what is being done to develop expert learners of rigorous content while providing specially designed instruction.
Presenter Bio: Deb Jaeger is an assistant principal at Mill Valley High School in the USD 232 De Soto district. As an instructional leader, she supports co-teaching teams in the building.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Consider the ways in which co-teaching empowers collaboration in the design of rigorous instructional content.
- Examine the connection between evidence-based instructional practice and the impact on students’ demonstration of high school content standards.
