Join us for the annual Kansas Infinitec Inclusive Practitioners' Summit. This is an opportunity to learn from Kansas educators who are passionate about inclusion and building capacity by sharing their knowledge. 

Breakout Session: Getting Started with UDL Implementation: An Administrative Perspective 

Description:

This session provides school and district leaders with a practical, actionable introduction to launching and supporting Universal Design for Learning (UDL) implementation. Participants will explore the administrator’s role in building staff capacity, creating conditions for sustainable change, and aligning UDL with existing systems such as MTSS, instructional coaching, and school improvement plans. The presenters will share examples from the UDL project participation, including challenges and ideas on getting started. 

Speakers:

  • Deb Jaeger, Infinitec Cadre member. Deb is the Associate Principal, Curriculum & Assessments at Desoto Public Schools She serves as an Assistant Principal and Assessment Coordinator. She also works closely with the Special Education department. Deb attended Emporia State University where she earned her Undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Special Education and School Leadership. She went on to earn her National Board Certification in Literacy. Deb began her teaching career as a special education teacher at Emporia Middle School. She relocated to the Olathe area where she taught at Prairie Trail Middle School as an English teacher for 18 years. Most recently, Deb served as the Assistant Principal at Mill Creek Campus and the Director of the Summer Academy program in the Olathe School District. Deb is passionate about education and the endless opportunities it provides for students.
  • Tyrek Artley, UDL team member. Tyrek is a 6th grade principal at Junction City Middle School. 

The Inclusive Practitioners' Summit sessions are recorded. This webinar is approved for 1 hour of continuing education clock hours for Kansas-licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability ( live attendance only).

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to: 

  • Analyze two common barriers to UDL adoption and apply practical strategies to support educators.
  • Identify three key leadership actions that promote effective and sustainable UDL implementation
    Analyze the origins of Universal Design in architecture and explain how its core principles informed the development of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
