Course description

Description:

Social cognition involves social awareness, emotional awareness, relationship building, self-management and emotional regulation. Social cognition is a developmental issue and can impact a person’s confidence and competence in almost all social situations. This presentation will highlight the use of a highly systemized scale to teach skills in these four areas.

Learner Objectives:

  • Define systematic learning as it applies to teaching social information to people with autism and related social differences.
  • Give an example of how a scale might be used to teach emotional regulation.
  • Describe how the 5-point scale is in line with several Evidence-based Interventions.
  • Write a goal for using the scale to teach social awareness.

Who Should Attend

Administrators, general education teachers, specialist teachers, family members, paraprofessionals, special education professionals, and related service providers.
