Course description

The Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ:SE-2™) is a tool that provides information about the social-emotional development of young children across seven domains: self-regulation, compliance, communication, adaptive behavior, autonomy, affect, and interaction with people. The information gathered in the ASQ:SE-2™ is used to identify children who may be at risk for social or emotional difficulties. The training incorporates family studies, role playing, and practice with evaluation and scoring.  Participants will also learn how to discuss screening results and referrals to community resources with families.

The training is designed for any professional who has contact with children younger than 72 months of age.  The goal of the ASQ:SE-2™ training is to identify social or emotional difficulties early, allowing children and families to receive services as soon as a difficulty is recognized.  Early services will allow children and families to find strategies to minimize difficulties and maximize potential.

Additional training and support services are avaliable on developmental health screening and promotion at: Help Me Grow Kansas . If you are a childcare provider, please contact Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO).  Additionally, Kindergarten teachers have access additional materials at: Kansas Kindergarten Readiness
