Breakout Session: AAC Buy-in with “Stepping into AAC”

Description:

Securing successful buy-in and establishing effective collaboration for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) implementation can be a challenge. This session goes beyond the resource itself. Our presenters, who have utilized the Stepping into AAC 20-week online video series, will share their practical, on-the-ground experiences. Join us as they discuss key takeaways, highlight which supports and strategies proved most effective, and share critical lessons learned to significantly improve AAC implementation outcomes across your district or agency.

Speakers:

  • Janelle Burris, Infinitec Cadre Member. Janelle has worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for 31 years,  She has been employed by Cowley County Special Services Cooperative for the past 28 years.  She has a passion for empowering communication through AAC use and all things Assistive Technology.
  • Emily Kaplan, Infinitec Cadre Member. Emily is a speech language pathologist with the Blue Valley School district.  She has served as an SLP, AAC Consult, and AT Specialist in 4 states over the past 17 years in both public schools and private schools serving students with high support needs.
  • Kristin Wiebe, Infinitec Cadre Member. Kristin has worked at Butler County Special Education Interlocal for over 30 years serving as an SLP for both homebound students as well as various classrooms, as the lead  A.T. Coordinator,  and as an AAC Consultant.  She also currently provides AAC services through private practice.

The Inclusive Practitioners' Summit sessions are recorded. This webinar is approved for 1 hour of continuing education clock hours for Kansas-licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability ( live attendance only).
