Course description

In this workshop for school community professionals, participants will experience an introduction to the five element methodology with practices to enhance personal and child/youth well-being and understand how to support these practices at the individual level while engaging in a community of practice with other professionals.

General Agenda 

  • 8:00 AM – Check in
  • 8:30 AM – Workshop Begins
  • 11:30 AM – Lunch (On Your Own)
  • 1:00 PM – Workshop resumes
  • 3:30 PM – End

Continuing Education

TASN SMHI is an approved provider for the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (#18-011). Social workers may receive 5 continuing education credits for each day. Certificates of attendance will be available to download upon completion of a brief evaluation at the conclusion of the day.

Media Consent

SMHI may take photographs, videos, and recordings of activities and participants during training, meetings, and conferences. These items will be used to positively recognize the work of participants and promote learning. They may be shared via social media pages, the SMHI webpage, conference materials, and SMHI promotional materials. The utilization of photographs, videos, or recordings taken by SMHI will abide by all state and federal laws regarding confidentiality and will not be used for any commercial value or monetary gain. By registering to attend this event, participants agree to have photographs, videos, or recordings utilized, without remuneration, unless this permission is revoked in writing to SMHI.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe why mindfulness and school-based yoga practices are needed to improve social and emotional growth outcomes.
  • Identify five elements of mindfulness and school-based yoga to foster whole child/youth development.
  • Implement a mindfulness and school-based yoga practice within a classroom (or similar) setting.

Refund Policy

Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
