This training is for Pre-Service Teachers of Students with Visual Impairment who are beginning their coursework, or for others who are interested in learning more about Learning Media Assessments and how to conduct them. It is a required course for TASN grant fund recipients.
The training will cover the components of a Learning Media Assessment and how to make decisions regarding braille instruction.
If at all possible, KS teachers should attend with their regional KSSB Field Services Representative who will assist them in conducting an assessment in their district after the training course.
Training participants will:
Understand the purpose of conducting a Learning Media Assessment
Learn how to take data regarding reading speed and accuracy as it relates to students with visual impairment
List three things to consider when making decisions about braille instruction for children
Name three prerequisites for braille instruction
Improve their skill level and confidence in performing a Learning Media Assessment
Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
