This webinar will explore the role of self-determination in secondary transition planning and how educators and professionals can center students in the process of setting and achieving meaningful goals. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles of self-determination, why it is critical for youth with disabilities, and how it impacts post-school outcomes. The session will introduce the Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction (SDLMI), an evidence-based practice that supports students in taking charge of their learning and transition planning. Attendees will learn about the key components of the SDLMI, its application in school settings, and strategies for supporting students to lead their own transition journeys
