A session in the series: Student Engagement in a Virtual Setting

The purpose of this webinar is to provide practical strategies to use with students in virtual programs to build relationships and increase student engagement. 

Optimism fuels motivation. When students believe that their efforts will lead to positive outcomes, they are more likely to engage actively in learning, set ambitious goals, and persists in the face of challenges. A positive outlook on their future encourages them to invest in their education and pursue opportunities for growth.

Presented by Kristi Teall, School Design Strategist from Michigan Virtual, this webinar will help you learn how to structure a virtual learning environment so that student's feel a sense of optimism. If students feel optimistic, then they are engaged in learning.

  • Describe the importance of optimism in promoting student engagement. 
  • Identify strategies to strengthen a student's sense of optimism. 
  • Develop an increased knowledge of strategies to promote student engagement in a virtual learning setting. 
  • Identify potential data sources to monitor for a sense of optimism. 

Long-Term Success Criteria

A system will know it is eventually successful when it can...

  • Address student engagement through a multi-tiered system of support. 
  • Collect, monitor, and respond to data on student engagement.
