What is teacher voice and why does it matter? Understanding the complexity and definition of voice is essential in the development of teacher leaders, based on more than 30 years of research and work conducted by the QISVA. Participants in the TLA will deeply understand and implement a common definition of voice and use their voices as teacher leaders to positively impact their own lives as professionals, as well as the students and families they serve.
Participants will explore the concept of teacher Self-Worth, beginning with developing a strong sense of belonging within an educational system and the importance of having personal and professional heroes. Additionally, sense of accomplishment as a professional will be looked at through the lens of teachers as professionals.
Teacher leaders will consider the conditions of fun and excitement, curiosity and creativity, and spirit of adventure as vehicles for engagement at the classroom, school and community level. Participants will be challenged to explore their own Purpose as an educator and how they can live out that Purpose by embracing leadership and responsibility and having the confidence to take action on their beliefs as teacher leaders.
The Voice Process and accompanying strategies will challenge participants to effectively listen to, learn from, and lead with others for the benefit of the school community. The ultimate goal is to amplify and leverage teacher voice to positively affect the teaching and learning environment and support all members of the school community in reaching their aspirations.
