Background

Inclusive Classroom Framework logo

For all of our school improvement efforts, only about ⅓ of educational initiatives will be implemented with fidelity and achieve the intended outcomes (Lyons). While a lack of time and resources are often the causes of implementation difficulties, they can often be overcome by working together towards a common goal (often referred to as Collective Teacher Efficacy) and structured coaching from a qualified and experienced practitioner (Knight, 2017; Joyce and Showers, 1982; Visible Learning, n.d.)

With this in mind, these coaching and collaboration sessions are structured to help in establishing data-informed self reflection as well as collective efficacy with a group of educators that are interested in creating a more inclusive classroom.  Building on the in-person Inclusive Classroom Framework training series, these coaching sessions will be an opportunity for individual educators and/or teams to evaluate implementation success and address areas of concern within their classrooms and buildings, all while developing collective efficacy together.

As Dr. Jenni Donohoo noted, “a staff’s collective sense of efficacy enables teams to undertake challenging activities and persist with high-needs students, because they judge the staff is capable of meeting students’ needs” (2017). In this sense, collective belief in our abilities increases our abilities even further, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of student growth!
