Information About the Project

  • This is a reimbursement program
    • The student pays for classes and after the class has been completed the student completes and sends me the following:
      • Reimbursement form
      • Copy of receipts for books
      • Copy of paid tuition
      • Copy of unofficial transcript with final grade(s)
  • The grant will reimburse up to a total of $750 for books
  • For those applying for O&M there is reimbursement for accommodations when staying at the university for the blind fold course.
  • Administrator within a school district signs and agreement stating their intention to have the student work within their district.
  • Waivers can be gained for work as a TSVI while working on the degree.
  • 4 trainings and PD opportunities provided by KSSB Field Service that the student attends over the course of 2 years
    • Year 1
      • Functional Vision Assessment Training (for TSVI and O&M)
      • Vision Symposium (for TSVI and O&M)
    • Year 2
      • Learning Media Assessment Training (for TSVI)
      • Learning Media Considerations for Students with Significant Needs (for TSVI)
      • Orientation and Mobility Assessment Training (for O&M)
      • Vision Symposium (for TSVI and O&M)
  • Once coursework has been completed the students then participate in 1 year of eMentoring with a KSSB field service member
  • KSSB also provides field service staff members to work with and mentor throughout their time in school and during their time in the role of a TSVI and/or O&M
