Research has shown that students impacted by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are more likely to fail a grade; score lower on standardized achievement test scores; have more receptive or expressive language difficulties; are suspended or expelled more often; and are designated to special education more frequently. In this presentation participants will learn how trauma impacts child/adolescent development and school performance, learn about the components of a trauma-informed school, and be provided with resources to guide the implementation of trauma-sensitive practices.
