This task provides a context in which the participant talks about emotions and personal experiences. The goal is to observe both the content of what the participant says and also the degree to which the child or adolescent who is verbally fluent can use language to talk about more abstract topics, particularly those associated with emotions. The requirement to talk about how one feels during different emotions is intended as a press to talk about a topic that is a challenge for many people. It is not intended as a test of cognitive function, so if it is very difficult for the participant, you should note this and continue to the next probe.
