DESCRIPTION:Encouraging teachers to engage in ongoing reflections about the
 ir instruction can lead to increases in student achievement. Participants 
 will learn how to utilize effective feedback and observations to focus on 
 best practices that impact student achievement\, guide discussions with pr
 ofessional staff\, provide valuable feedback\, and help determine areas fo
 r focused professional development. Participants will also practice observ
 ations by viewing videotaped lessons and then debrief as a group.\nPartici
 pants will:\n Discuss how to use brief observations to identify key com
 ponents of instruction\nDiscuss how to use observations to open dialogue w
 ith educators concerning effective instructional practices\n Consider how 
 to provide valuable feedback to teachers to improve their instruction\n
  Establish which essential components of an effective intervention lesson 
 could be improved to provide increased student learning\n Share ideas a
 bout how to make discussions following observation productive\nPractice wr
 iting observations that are specific\, factual\, and devoid of judgment\nW
 ho should attend?  This professional learning opportunity will be most mea
 ningful for Building Leadership Teams\, or for Principals or other distric
 t leaders who attend with their Literacy Coaches or grade level leaders.\n
