Course description

Kansans Can Competency Framework

Professional Development Description:
This course includes face-to-face training, online follow-up (opt.), and personal coaching for Susan B. Anthony Middle School educators, counselors, social workers and administrators who aspire to incorporate interpersonal competency development (i.e., self-regulation) within daily instruction, either in core content or other support areas. Through this experience, educators will be provided the knowledge, resources, and experience necessary to learn and teach self-regulation development practices to students in all content areas.

 

Participants will attend in-person trainings followed by a collaborative learning component including group sharing, implementation discussions, and feedback supported by on-site and online coaching to provide quality self-regulation instruction and assess student impact. Instructional plans will be implemented during the second quarter and continued in the second semester.

 

PD Spring 2021 will provide review of student pre/post data along with indicators for planning, summarize teacher reflection results, and discussion of how content and practice fits into 2021-22 school year.

Participants will be provided the digital set of self-regulation lessons and student workbooks prior to training for  from https://nge.selz.com/.   1. I can explain the Kansans Can Competency Framework to a colleague (including why we need to teach students competencies).
  2. I feel prepared to teach the essential components of self-regulation.
  3. I have a clear understanding of what I will accomplish before our next meeting.
  4. I know how to access a variety of free resources via http://cccframework.org.

Learning Objectives for our next session:

  1. I have brainstormed ideas for teaching self-regulation in my course/context.
  2. I will develop and implement a two to three week instructional plan to teach self-regulation.
  3. I can apply data-based decision making for continued self-regulation instruction.
